Helping Hand Senior Services provides care for pets in our clients homes. We offer vacation pet care, dog walking and elderly pet care.

What happens when an elderly person can no longer properly care for their pet?  Do they have to give it up?

Elderly pet owners may struggle to feed, walk or clean up after their furry friends.

Pets offer a sense of well-being and security for many of us. They are members of our family.  Research shows that pets can help people cope with major life problems, such as the death of a spouse.  Research also tells us that companion animals, such as cats and dogs, can help improve our physical and mental health and lift one’s spirits by providing much-needed social support.  By spending time with an animal friend, you can experience the benefits of lowered stress levels and blood pressure.

Cats and dogs provide friendship for lonely individuals, and open opportunities for interacting with others which an older person may miss if family is far away. Their company has also been proven to reduce depression.

If an elderly person is a pet lover it can be good for their health, no matter if it is a dog, cat, fish or bird.

The problem arises when they can no longer care for there pets but don’t want to loose them as well.

That’s where Helping Hand Senior Services can help.

We check on your pet and make sure they are doing OK.  We make sure your pet or pets have food and water, and look for any illnesses that can go unseen by owners who can’t see as well anymore.

We know our pets do best at home and change can be extremely stressful both on the pet and the owner.
